ABSTRACT

Nanomaterials have already been integrated into many consumer products, and future use is projected to be a major source of economic development, affecting our lives in many aspects. The wide variety of possible applications for nanoparticles stem from their unique properties, that is, approaching nanometer size, extremely high surface areas, and unique physicochemical properties. However, these unique properties also cause concern for poor compatibility with biological systems. Unfortunately, the development of engineered nanomaterials has outpaced our ability to evaluate potential human
