ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses instrumentation based on water vapor absorption of radiation in certain optical wavelengths. The two most often used absorption-type optical hygrometers are the infrared and ultraviolet instruments. The latter is often referred to as the LymanAlpha hygrometer, indicating a specific absorption line in the ultraviolet spectrum.
