ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 presented an introduction to research. The basic principles of research and planning for research were discussed, along with explanations of various types of research designs. Information about sampling procedures, different kinds of probability and nonprobability samples, and calculating sample sizes were included. Considerations for the validity and reliability of research instruments were described. Finally, steps in the research process were delineated with explanations of each step.
