ABSTRACT
The evaluation of the current condition of the structure and the prognosis of the further development is an essential task. It provides a decisive basis for the owner/ operator and designer to select the optimal repair options for the structure. To select the technically and economically optimal time for possible interventions, a reliable estimation of the following points is necessary:
• Is the actual load-bearing capacity acceptable, and how will it develop in future? • Is the actual usability and safety acceptable, and how will it develop in future? • Is the concrete affected by corrosion, and how will the deterioration develop over time? • Is the reinforcement subject to corrosion, and how will the deterioration (cracks, spall-
ing, loss in cross section, etc.) develop over time?
