ABSTRACT
Postnatal growth failure (ex utero growth restriction, or EUGR) is almost inevitable in preterm infants; the smaller and more immature the infant, the greater the degree of growth failure1,2 (see Chapter 3). Poor somatic growth reflects poor organ growth and is associated with alterations in organ structure and function.
