Community sites are places where people congregate to discuss and to share activities of mutual interests. In a typical community portal, people compose and share stories, including images, audio, and video, with other users. Not all community sites are public though; some exist as corporate intranets where access is not open over the internet. Intranet sites are especially useful for corporations that have personnel scattered over a wide geographical area. For such organizations, a well-designed community site could have the following visible benefits:
