ABSTRACT

A patent is a right conferred by a public authority on behalf of the

state for exclusive exploitation (monopoly) of a new, inventive, and

fully disclosed invention in an industrial field.

The monopoly provided by the patent to its proprietor must

be observed by third parties, in particular, competitors. In other

words, the patented invention can be carried out only by the patent

proprietor or by subjects who got the permission to do so by the

same proprietor (license).
