ABSTRACT
Boundary layers are the thin ¡uid layers adjacent to the surface of a body in which strong viscous effects exist. Figure 9.1 shows the nature of the ¡ow ‡eld that would exist around an arbitrary body at a Reynolds number that is not small or of order unity. The nature of such a ¡ow ‡eld is known from information gathered from a large number of experiments.
