Knowledge Management and Collaboration: Big Budget Results in a Low Budget World

It is a new version of an old story. Companies like Microsoft developed and deployed powerful collaboration platforms that are massively underutilized because they are viewed and implemented (i.e., deployed) as traditional software. Moreover, several of these platforms are on their third or fourth iteration and are robust by any measure. Some, like Microsoft® SharePoint®, were purchased and incorporated into organizational software portfolios at a level approaching ubiquity.
