The social media craze is already upon us, as further witnessed by the initial public offering (IPO) in May 2011 of LinkedIn, soon to be followed by potential IPOs of other social media sites. Mark Zuckerberg, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Facebook, was the 2010 Time Person of the Year. Social networking and collaboration are the lingua franca of today’s world, especially among the Gen Y’ers. The Horizon Report (https://wp.nmc.org/horizon2011/sections/executive-summary/) tracks learning and knowledge, and they are crossing geographical borders through online collaborative workspaces and social networking. Blogs, wikis, and Twitter are all part of the milieu of further connecting and collaborating with others. And certainly, mobile computing will continue to play an important role in how we operate, both at work and home.
