ABSTRACT
Food adulteration is the intentional debasing of the quality of food intended for sale either by the admixture or substitution of inferior substances or by the removal of a valuable ingredient. Adulteration is carried out with the aim of reducing the manufacturing costs or for some other deceptive or malicious purpose. A food adulterant is a chemical substance or composition added to food during adulteration.
