ABSTRACT

Wax deposition is a critical operational challenge to the oil and gas industry. As early as 1928, wax deposition was reported as an issue that “presents many difficult problems while being produced, transported, and stored” (Reistle, 1932, page 7). Wax deposition problems occur in a wide range of locations in the petroleum production chain, including flow lines, surface equipment, and topside facilities, and downstream refineries. In some of the extreme cases, it can also occur in well tubings.
