Gardner A process for making magnesium metal by reducing magnesium sulde, made from magnesium oxide, with calcium carbide in the presence of a ux of calcium and aluminum chlorides. Invented by D. Gardner in 1895 and operated by Murex, United Kingdom, in the 1930s.
