ABSTRACT

The term ‘boiling’ embraces a wide spectrum of different phenomena: nucleation, vapour bubble growth and departure, heat transfer at different regimes of pool boiling, flow boiling in channels under different combinations of controlling parameters, boiling crisis and so on. This chapter is concerned with mechanisms of intensive heat transfer under nucleate, transition and film boiling. This is not a usual approach, because three very different modes of boiling are considered in one chapter based on high intensity of heat transfer as their single general feature.
