ABSTRACT

Many times when thinking about occupational safety, physical controls or personal protective equipment (PPE) comes to mind. Control mechanisms and PPE are the tools and equipment used to secure your assets or protect an employee, but is this occupational safety management? For the purposes of this text, occupational safety management is much larger than identifying a lockout-tagout procedure for your energized equipment. Occupational safety management is a comprehensive management process using critical thinking within an operational framework to implement and operate a system of safety throughout an organization.
