ABSTRACT

It is not going too far aeld to say that remote sensing can inuence the public, the media, and legal proceedings related to geosciences. Whether in a university setting, government, or industry, everyone has to deal with the public at some point. Remote sensing has a role to play in convincing the public that development can be monitored, controlled, and made safe. Imagery can show areas that historical development has or has not adversely affected, and can demonstrate that processes are in place to locate, measure, and mitigate adverse impacts.
