ABSTRACT

In light of the ever-diminishing resources of fossil fuels and the perilous rates at which climate change is becoming visible, there is an increasing worldwide economic interest and scientic focus on developing biofuel crops [1]. Worldwide energy consumption has increased 13-fold in the 20th century alone, tripling since 1960, which is more rapid than the population explosion [2-3]. Obviously, it is difcult to keep up with the high energy demands from the nite resources alone. Biofuels, in fact, are the only alternative source of liquid transportation fuels compatible with our existing eet of automobiles.
