ABSTRACT

The objective of this chapter is to define a way to measure the invasion-of-privacy construct. Invasion of privacy is a subjective criterion that can be used by the data custodian (DC) to influence his or her choice of the re-identification metric thresholds. If the invasion of privacy is deemed to be high, then that should weigh the decision more toward a lower threshold. On the other hand, if the invasion of privacy is deemed to be quite low, then a higher threshold would be acceptable.
