ABSTRACT
It is likely that this woman has a viral pericarditis, which is usually a limiting disease process. She will need to rest until the pain settles, and should make a full recovery over the following days to weeks. A patient with a high fever (>38°C) or significant underlying medical problems may need to be admitted for monitoring, as he/she may be at risk of developing serious complications.
