ABSTRACT

An 82-year-old woman has been referred by her GP for confusion and being ‘off her legs’. She appears vacant and is unable to say why and how she came to the hospital. The referral letter states that she lives alone and has no immediate family. She was previously independent and walked with the aid of two sticks. Her medical history includes hypertension and osteoporosis. She is taking amlodipine 10 mg once daily and risedronate 35 mg once per week.
