ABSTRACT
Graduated cylinders and volumetric §asks are liquid measuring devices mainly used for making solutions or measuring volumes > 100 mL. Volumetric §asks are used when very high accuracy is needed. For the solutions described in this manual, graduated cylinders are suf¦cient for making solutions. Graduated cylinders may or may not be autoclavable and it is generally good practice to avoid pouring solutions when working in a sterile environment, such as in a biosafety cabinet (BSC). For these reasons, graduated cylinders are not commonly used for measuring and transferring liquid when performing cell and tissue culture.
