ABSTRACT

It is therefore easy to imagine the large variety of needs depending on the reality of a particular production site. Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) answer to these particular needs, offering tailored functionalities, including:

• tools for complex work orders management: complex routings, bills of materials, or processes;

• detailed scheduling of production, with capacities’ planning and control; • real-time production management, allowing detailed follow-up of production, and

instant work-in-progress identification; • direct interfacing with machinery, to both give orders to machines, and collect infor-

mation (volume produced, operating time,...).
