ABSTRACT

The quantitative structural model of self-adhesion bonding strength for miscible amorphous polymers was described showing a good correspondence to the experiment. This model allows defi ning factors affecting the self-bonding strength. At present, it has been generally acknowledged that in self-adhesion bonding, the mechanical properties depend on two factors, namely: The macromolecular entanglements formation in the boundary layer and the macromolecular coils interdiffusion kinetics [1]. However, as a rule, an experimental results treatment of self bonded layers may give rise to only qualitative analysis. Instead, the present communication purpose is the development of quantitative structural model for self-adhesion bonding strength, using the fractal analysis notions.
