ABSTRACT
In the European Union, the implementation and monitoring of coherent “farm to table” measures ensure the effective functioning of the internal market.
For this, the European Economic Community has developed legislative action and other measures to:
• Ensure effective control systems (traceability of food from the farm to the table) and assess compliance with the Community rules on food quality, health, welfare, and plant health and animal feed.
