ABSTRACT

Chamomile is used as a folk remedy for various diseases by many people across the world. This is evident from the ethnobotanical studies carried out in the different regions of the world. Raal et al. (2013) found that in Estonia about 56% patients of common cold and u treated themselves with medicinal plants, such as chamomile. Tudor and Georgescu (2011) reported the ethnobotanical use of chamomile in Budapest. Snežana et al. (2007) reported that wild chamomile was used most commonly for medicinal purposes in Serbia. Silvia et al. (2007) reported the ethnobotanical use of chamomile in the western Pyrenees. Smitherman et al. (2005) reported that the black community in the United States extensively used chamomile-based medication to treat colic and teething in children. Similarly, Michael et al. (2000) reported the extensive use of chamomile among the Latino healers in New York.
