ABSTRACT

The base level expression of p53 in normal unstressed cells is low, which is regulated by proteins such as MDM2, MULE, PIRH2, or JNK, which promotes its degradation via the ubiquitin-proteosome pathway. Most of these genes are upregulated by p53, which leads to a regulation loop that will keep the p53 level very low in normal cells (Figure 5.1).
