ABSTRACT
Down syndrome who has become increasingly aggressive over the past few hours. His mother tells you that he is usually very calm but that he has been behaving strangely this morning. He is sweaty and anxious and is complaining that his vision is blurry. His mother tells you that he has type I diabetes. He has been to the ED with DKA before, but his mother insists that she gave him his regular insulin this morning. His blood glucose is 2.4 mmol/L. The patient then tells you that he wasn’t feeling well this morning, so did not eat his breakfast.
