ABSTRACT

A 27-year-old man was admitted to the ward after sustaining a right tibia and fibula fracture in a road traffic accident. He is currently in an aboveknee backslab with the leg resting on a pillow, awaiting consultant review in the morning. You are called to the ward by the nurse saying the patient is in severe pain despite having morphine 2 hours ago. When you arrive at the ward the patient is crying in pain and complaining of an inability to move his toes.
