ABSTRACT
Typically, an abcess appears as a parenchymal mass lesion with extensive surrounding oedema and mass effect.
Classically, it displays a uniformly thin rim of enhancement with smooth inner and outer walls. The rim is typically hypointense on T2-weighted images.
