ABSTRACT

FHN is a common solid benign liver tumour, second only in frequency to haemangioma. FNH can be considered as a proliferation of hepatocytes with an abnormal pattern of other, normal, liver tissue. Hence, FNH contains normally functioning hepatocytes and Kupffer cells. On gross pathology, the hallmark feature of FNH is a central stellate scar with radiating brous septae dividing the tumour into lobules. The central scar contains an arterial malformation with spiderlike branches supplying the component nodules and also has an abnormal bile duct remnant. This central scar may also be seen on MRI.
