ABSTRACT
Low energy density and high moisture content are two key disadvantages of using biomass as asolid fuel. Both can be overcome with thermal pretreatment methods. Torrefaction and (slow) pyrolysis are two main approaches to converting asigniŽcant portion of biomass into a high-energy-density solid fuel.
