ABSTRACT

The functionalization of graphene oxide, and other derivatives belonging to the graphene community, with biomolecules such as proteins, saccharides, nucleic acids, and lipids, is an interesting emerging eld that has attracted considerable scientic attention. The integration of graphene oxide with these biomolecules has generated hybrid systems that combine their properties synergically. These characteristics have permitted the development of complex nanostructures, biosensors, nanocomposites, systems for

biocatalysis, and re-retardant lms, among other interesting structures.
