ABSTRACT

Iron oxide can be produced by synthetic routes, and it is mainly composed by iron oxide anhydrous and/or hydrates. Iron oxide is produced by direct binding of an iron atom with oxygen, for example, iron (II) oxide or ferrous oxide (Fe2O); iron (III) oxide or anhydrous ferric oxide (Fe2O3), known in its natural form as hematite (α-Fe2O3) and maghemite (γ-Fe2O3); and iron (II, III) oxide, known as ferrous ferric oxide, which in its natural form is known as magnetite (Fe3O4).
