ABSTRACT

A systematic review is a scientic study using the IMRaD (introduction, methods, results and discussion) format discussed in Chapter 5. It addresses a specic question, using existing data, and as such is secondary research rather than primary research. A systematic review should be an unbiased synthesis of available evidence and every effort should be made to prevent bias during the process of writing it. A meta-analysis is a specic form of systematic review with a statistical combination of the results of all the appropriate trials in the review.
