ABSTRACT

History A 24-year-old man presents to the accident and emergency department with vomiting and abdominal pain that has been worsening over the last 24 hours. He describes initially feeling unwell with mild fever and central abdominal discomfort that has slowly focused into the right iliac fossa. He has not been exposed to other people with similar symptoms and although he has bought and eaten freshly prepared food, none of his friends have has similar symptoms. He has no significant medical history.
