ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Granulation is an important unit operation during the manufacturing of solid dosage forms to improve the processability, fluidity, compactibility, content uniformity, and/or dissolution rate of a formulation. This size enlargement process is commonly done via wet granulation using a solvent (water or organic solvent) to initiate binding between solid particles; however, when the formulation is not suitable for wet processing, dry granulation (chap. 8) or melt granulation can be valuable alternatives.
