ABSTRACT

The approach covered focuses on using an integrated product and process team (IPPT) concept staffed from a functional organization structure within a matrix. A program integration team (the system IPPT called the PIT) is assumed to be in overall control of the requirements analysis process for a program. That team would accomplish the requirements analysis work necessary to develop and maintain the system specication and the top-level specication for each IPPT. As each IPPT comes on line, the PIT provides the leader with a specication for the team item, budget, and schedule corresponding to the architecture item assigned, and a contiguous piece of the IMP/IMS also corresponding to that item. Team leaders may assign a system engineer the responsibility for coordinating all of the requirements analysis work for the team and the term SRA lead engineer is used in this book to identify that person.
