ABSTRACT

We view the scrum approach to any kind of project management as a “small loop” methodology. Those of us with a quality engineering background will see the daily scrum meetings and short range sprints as instantiations of the plan-do-check-act (PDCA) Shewhart (or Deming) Circle. We were gratified to see an excellent discussion of the small loop approach in Mike Rother’s book, Toyota Kata.
