ABSTRACT
Computed tomographic images are reconstructed from a large number of measurements of x-ray transmission through the patient (called projection data). e resulting images are tomographic “maps” of the x-ray linear attenuation coecient. e mathematical methods used to reconstruct CT images from projection data are discussed in the next section. In this section, the hardware and instrumentation in a modern scanner are described.
