ABSTRACT

Cultural control of insect pests includes any modification in the way a crop or livestock is produced that results in lower pest populations or damage. This includes both changes in production practices of the crop or livestock and changes in surrounding areas of production. Some pest management specialists define cultural controls as purposeful manipulation of production practices to reduce pest populations or damage, but the concept is used more broadly here to include any change in production practice that results in lower pest populations or damage, whether intentional or not.
