350 Emerging Wireless Networks: Concepts, Techniques, and Applications

Emerging 4G networks will be characterized by a heterogeneous environment where several access networks will be available. While one way to enhance the Quality of Service (QoS) offered to users in this context is through innovative protocols and new technologies, future trends should as well take into account the efficiency of resource allocation schemes. As a result, the goal of this chapter is to summarize techniques that may enable optimal distribution of resources in multiaccess network environments.
