The wicking process, or capillary rise in a dry porous medium, is a twophase phenomenon. The dynamics of wicking in porous media has not been extensively studied compared to that of capillary tubes. In a porous medium, the interconnected pore channels create a complex topology and geometries that inˆuence the dynamics of the wicking signi cantly. Furthermore, the initial conditions of the wetting phase for wicking play an important role.
