ABSTRACT

Stress-ribbon bridge is the term that has been coined to describe structures formed by directly walked prestressed concrete deck with the shape of a catenary. e conception was rst introduced by Ulrich Finsterwalder, who repeatedly proposed such a structure for bridging large spans (Walther 1969; Strasky 2011). Among the bridges suggested they were those over Bosporus (see Figure 12.1), Lake Geneva and Zoo in Köln.
