ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we provide an overview of MATLAB® and Simulink®. MATLAB and Simulink are registered trademarks of The MathWorks, Inc. This chapter is not intended as a complete user’s guide, but to orient the reader to their basic structure. The manuals provided with the products give excellent guidance: MATLAB Getting Started Guide (The MathWorks 2010a) and Simulink Getting Started Guide (The MathWorks 2010b). In addition, The MathWorks, Inc. Web site offers comprehensive documentation, demos, and tutorials. Some of the most widely used topics in this text are introduced in this chapter and developed further in later chapters.
