ABSTRACT

Improving data effectiveness means obtaining a consistent version of the truth, and a strategy for achieving this starts with detecting fraud and theft. For the forensic investigator, this involves developing a strategy for enabling critical decisions to be made on accurate, concise, trustworthy information with swiftness, precision, and efficiency. Often, the most immediate challenge that the forensic investigator faces is that data systems containing information relevant to fraud, waste, and abuse detection cannot share information with one another. The forensic strategy must deal with assembling or having access via data pointers to relevant data sources impacted by criminals. This may involve a strategy by the forensic investigator of using analytical networks and systems developed for real-time marketing.
