ABSTRACT

The most commonly used heat exchanger is the shell and tube type. It is the “workhorse” of industrial process heat transfer. It has many applications in the power generation, petroleum renery, chemical industries, and process industries. They are used as oil cooler, condenser, feedwater heater, etc. Other types of heat exchangers are used when economical. Though the application of other types of heat exchangers is increasing, the shell and tube heat exchanger will continue its popularity for a long time, largely because of its versatility [1].
