ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 introduced the batch distillation operation, described concepts behind the simplest batch distillation operation, and presented the advantages of using batch distillation columns. This chapter introduces and presents an analysis of the basic modes of batch distillation operation. First, a theoretical analysis is established, based on simplifying assumptions. Then, a graphical approach to batch distillation column design is developed and illustrated with simple examples of binary systems.
