ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the effects of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and its derivatives Δ5-androstene-3β, 17β-diol (AED) and ∆5-androstene-3β, 7β, 17β-triol (AET) during infections. The goal is to provide an overview of the advances but not a complete and exhaustive literature review. Any publication related to immune de‰ciency syndrome and human immunode‰ciency virus (HIV) is excluded, as this topic is being considered in another chapter of this book.
