ABSTRACT

Seldom does a study answer only one single question and perform only one statistical test. The problem of multiple comparisons, or multiplicity, may arise because of the involvement of multiple endpoints, pairwise comparisons among three or more groups, multiple subgroup analyses, interim analyses, and so on. This chapter mainly uses multiple endpoints and pairwise comparisons to illustrate the methods discussed, but the methods are applicable to other situations.
