ABSTRACT

Spectroscopy can be employed to study cancer cell lines. Raman spectroscopy has been applied to analyse the testicular, lymphoma, and ovarian cancer cell lines. In this chapter, a study describing the spectral differences between resistant and sensitive subtypes of the 833k testicular cancer cell line samples is reported. Raman spectroscopy allowed reproducible and quantitative analysis of the specimen and illustrated the chemical specifications of the samples precisely. Six pairs of 833k testicular cancer cell lines were studied and the findings were backed by statistical methods, i.e., partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA). In addition, two other testicular cancer cell lines (GCT27 and Susa), a lymphoma cell line (DHL4), and an ovarian cancer cell line (A2789) treated with chemotherapeutic medications are analysed.
